View from my window - August

Weather wise, August has been a bit of a mixed bag up here really. Very heavy rain at the beginning of the month, which left the little stream over flowing and the lane flooded again.

The weather did pick up and has been a mix of sunshine, clouds and showers, but it has still been very warm.

I think at this time of year the countryside begins to look a little untidy, the long grass is beginning to seed and the seed heads on the thistles, docks and nettles etc are forming. Hedgerow fruits are beginning to swell, and it looks as if there will be lots of blackberries, sloes, rose hips and elderberries this year.

The seeds, especially the sticky weed, really catch in Beanie's coat when he goes running through the long grass or into the hedgerows, so much so that he had to have a 'hair cut'.
